Bryan Ng Yih Miin and Adel Melaka Food Trip 3.0 - Cendol and Tai Bak

This time around, Bryan Ng Yih Miin and Adel are going introduce you to Cendol and Tai Bak at Auntie Koh's stall in Bukit Rambai. It is considerably far away from the city centre. We have heard so much about Auntie Koh's Cendol that I could resist myself to drive all the way from KL to try this.

We reached the place at around 11:30 am and there were already lot of people at the stall. Unfortunately for us, a Bus full of Singaporeans had just reached at the place minutes before us. Normally, the stall will be open starting at 12.00 noon but to be safe, you should come half an hour early to ensure no disappointment.

Cendol : RM 2.50 for small
            RM3.50 for large

The service was relatively fast despite of the long queue. The Cendol is spectacular and unique at the same time as it differ from normal Cendol in Melaka where Auntie Koh's Cendol emphasises at the stronger taste of Santan. The lesser taste of Gula Melaka blends just nice with the Santan. The Santan is the key this time around because it was really fresh and not too bland. Whereas the Gula Melaka was smooth and just nice, isn't too sweet. Honestly, after 4 years staying in Melaka, this is the best Cendol in Melaka and all other places I have been to including Penang.

The interesting desert called as Tai Bak which is rarely heard these days. The look of Tai Bak is deceiving as it portray to be non-so special due to its plain colour but the verdict would be, it is tasty. Although I will still prefer the Cendol but this Tai Bak does have its unique blend of taste where the vermicili looking "white cendol" is really delicate and overrall it is not too sweet and the balance of the flavour is just beyond words could describe.

I would recommend you to go there by using the GPS co-ordinates N2 14.804 E102 11.516 as it is really really difficult to find the place for the first time.

Rating for Roasted Pork with prawns in XO  : 7/10
Rating for Red Fish in Hot and Sour sauce    : 7/10

WHY?
  • Portion Rating (9/10)
We ordered the food for two, and the amount of food on
plate served is more than sufficient for the both of us!

  • Quality of food (7-8/10)
The roast pork with prawns in XO is an unusual combination!
The best is the taste of the prawns-well marinated, aromatic
with dried shrimps, chilli and onions! The Hot and Sour sauce
fish is rich in ginger and chilli padi. The Qing Long Vegetable
has the soft and smooth taste of it,and it tastes just good!

  • Price (8/10)
Super reasonable price. You don't need to go as far as Kuala
Selangor to get fresh seafood with this price!

  • Environment (8/10)
There are plenty of table and chairs, no doubt, but the place
is filled up pretty fast especially if you arrive after 7pm - so
you will have to wait till there's empty space.

Grand Teochew Porridge Restaurant Sri Petaling

<data:blog.pageName/> | <data:blog.title/> <data:blog.pageTitle/> This time around Ng Yih Miin is going to introduce a good place to have authentic Teochew delicacies in Sri Petaling.

We ordered braised duck, braised peanuts and braised taufu.

Overall, I really enjoy eating the braised duck as it reminded me of my maternal grandma's braised duck which i have not eaten for years ever since her passing.

The ambience is also great, unlike most of other shops, this shop has a very clean environment, fully air-conditioned and most importantly, the toilet is very clean.

The serving of the food is a fast and most importantly the price is reasonable. A meal for 3 person at RM 30++.

This shop is located at the vicinity of Sri Petaling which is located not far from International Medical University and Old Klang Road.

Address : 41, Jalan Radin Bagus, Sri Petaling,  57000. It is just a few shops away from Paparich

Top 8 Must Eat Melaka Food

Hi again, today Ng Yih Miin and Adele will be introducing to you the Top 10 Melaka Food.

1. Nadeje at Mahkota Parade (press at the link to go to the page)
This is one of the Ng Yih Miin's all time favourite cafe for layer cake. Ng Yih Miin believes there are many other fan of Nadeje will definitely agree that this is one of the must eat venues.

2.Chung Wah Chicken Rice
The long line of waiting just to taste the chicken rice ball of Chung Wah. Ng Yih Miin loves this shop but hardly will have the patience to wait in the long queue.

3.Satay Celup at Ban Lee Hsiang

Satay celup of Melaka is a must eat cuisine. There are aplenty of shops in Melaka offering this food but there are only 2 shops in Melaka is comparable to the true taste of it. It is either Capitol Satay Celup and Ban Lee Hsiang. Personally, Ng Yih Miin prefers Ban Lee Hsiang as the queue is lesser and the price is much more affordable without compromising the taste of the food.

4.Duck Noodle at Bukit Beruang
This is undebatable best duck noodle you can ever find even in Malaysia. Many came all the way from Singapore over the weekend just to eat the duck noodle. No doubt, this is Ng Yih Miin's all time favourite lunch venue.

5. Best Durian Cendol at Jeta Groove, Melaka Raya
This place is found by accident. The Durian Cendol in this shop is so good that it blasted the mind of Ng Yih Miin every time he tries it. Surprising finding in a shop that looks so ordinary.

6. Oyster Omelet near Jalan Bunga Raya
Ng Yih Miin loves the Oyster Omelet or O Chien of this shop. Perhaps, it should be considered the best in Melaka in after 4 years Ng Yih Miin stayed in Melaka.

7.Portugese Food at Chef Anthony
If you visit Melaka and wanted to try authentic Portugese Food but they are all cutting throat price, don't worry, visit Chef Anthony recommended by Ng Yih Miin.

8.Donald & Lily Nyonya Food
This is one hell of a great Nyonya food at reasonable price unlike most of other Nyonya restaurant this restaurant provides fine Nyonya food especially for their Cendol and Asam Fish. Ng Yih Miin will definitely recommend people to try this place.
